(OLNEY/NEWTON) The USDA, the Illinois Department of Agriculture, and other farm groups have scheduled three Conservation Cropping Seminars for later this month giving farmers, ag retailers, and advisors a chance to gather together in an informal networking atmosphere to discuss ways to increase conservation and improve water quality efforts in Illinois. In fact, the three meetings will help provide more information on such practices as cover crops, nutrient management, soil health, and much more. The two keynote speakers are soil sustainability author David Montgomery and retired NRCS agronomist and soil health specialist Ray Archuleta. Each $20 seminar includes lunch, running from 8:40 to 4:30 at each site, January 22 in Mendota, January 23 in Springfield, and January 24 in O’Fallon.
