The Bend Community Club will have its Fall Soup Supper tomorrow evening with serving from 4:00 to 7:00 in the St. Valentine’s Hall in The Bend. It includes a choice of potato soup, vegetable soup, and/or chili, plus peanut butter sandwiches, relishes, dessert, and drink. Only $6 per person. Check it out.
The Olney VFW will host its Family Freedom Festival tomorrow afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00. The event will feature various games, plenty of prizes, good food, and great music for Veterans and all others.
The St. Isidore Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Island Grove, will have its Annual Fall Breakfast & Raffle tomorrow morning from 7:00 to 12:00. The menu includes whole hog sausage, ham, pancakes, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, homemade breads & rolls, and drinks. The $7 tickets for adults and $4 tickets for children 10 years old and under will be on sale at the door. Plus a country store and quilt raffle as well.
The Richland County Democrats are hosting a free spaghetti dinner and silent auction this evening at the Olney VFW with serving from 5:00 to 7:00. Donated items will be available through the silent auction, plus those attending with the chance to meet with and talk to current candidates and elected officials.
The Flora Public Library will host a couple of special programs today : the “Tale of Two States : Kentucky & Illinois” program will be presented by author Eddie Price, starting at 1:00 – the historical program is free. Prior to that, Price will present a child’s program featuring his past and most recent children’s books, plus the author’s various books will available for sale. All are invited
The Sailor Springs Chowder is today with serving from 11:00 to 2:00. Also including barbeque, brats, pie, cake, and drink, either dine-in or carry-out. Bring your own containers for bulk chowder, but no glass containers. Plus, music from Liberty Road. Bring your lawn chairs. All are invited.
The Flora Gardens Care Center has rescheduled its First Annual Car Show for this afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 at Charley Brown Park at the west edge of Flora, just off of old Route 50/250. The registration begins at 10:00 this morning. It’s free to all spectators, concessions for sale. All are invited.
The Village of Yale has its annual Village-Wide Garage Sale today with garage sales throughout town. Today is also Village-Wide Clean Up Day with a dumpster provided for Village and Township residents.
While out traveling this weekend, motorists are reminded to be alert to that slow-moving farm equipment as area farmers continue with their 2018 fall harvest activities moving from field to field. Farmers are also reminded to keep those SMV emblems clean and visible and remember “safety first” while working.
